Ready to kick up your jewelry-making skills? Then it’s time to start using the torch to create seamless metal designs! Learn how to use a butane torch to solder metal joints in this 3-hour weekly class. Projects will include copper/brass saddle rings and pendants. Prior experience in sawing and filing metal helpful. Must be 18 and older. Course fee: $125. Materials fee $35.
Materials to Bring
- Mask for dust
- Plastic safety glasses
- A small sketchbook & pencil
- An apron
Brief
After an introduction to the torch, safety precautions, types of solder, flux, pickling and soldering tools, you’ll create a ring and a pendant by using a small butane torch to melt solder so you can seamlessly attach different pieces of metal.
