(the collective) performance studio is a boutique coaching studio for people interested in expanding their presence in the world through a performing arts medium.

What started as an acting technique and business coaching class designed for individuals interested in pursuing careers in the performing arts has now expanded into an empowering and thought-provoking exploration of the human condition for all “life enthusiasts” who seek to bring more of their authentic selves to the table through the creation of compelling and believable characters from stage and screen. 

Classes include a full body warmup of improvisational and vocal exercises to prepare your instrument for a moment-to-moment "repeating" exercise which is then followed by individual and/or group work including monologues and scenes from stage, film & tv. 

Observing, discussing and experiencing all the subtle nuances of movement and expression that make us human and bring our most authentic selves to the surface truly sets this class apart as not just a coaching program for performers but a coaching program for Life.

Please arrive 5 minutes early for class. ADULTS (18+) and up are welcome!

Ages 8-11

Students play acting games and use improvisation skills to bring to life the characters from folktales and fairytales. The exercises and performances help students build public speaking skills and to gain confidence.

Put your voice into action through this unique workshop that blends playwriting and performance for teenagers. Students will learn the basics of script writing and performance through character and plot development inspired by locations throughout the Jersey Shore Arts Center building. Students will write original monologues and/or scenes and perform them in this two hour master class for teenagers. (ages 12-18)
